Hello Everyone I Need Your Help! Please & Thank You

I am working on a parts website and they are a dealer/distributor for a number of other businesses. Now what we are trying to do is is download a file from their store with all of their part numbers and descriptions etc. and import them onto our CRE loaded store.

The only thing I am having trouble with is figuring out how to uplaod this file and in what format. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. It will save me weeks of work!

First use easy populate export advanced
admin - data manager

to get a spread sheet file that will hold the header structure.. this is what you would need in order to import it back
every line needs to end in the EOREOR

Ok I did this and have my exported file and they all end with EOREOR. So do I take my file from the other website and just make sure it matches this layout and then save it and use the easy populate import? And can you explain what the split file means?

You truly are a life saver! I appreciate your help!!!

the headers are the import part.. those need to be left intact.. and the last column needs the EOREOR to be filled in every column

v_products_id = internal product id.. if you populate this, be sure it is not shared by any other product
most of the other column are self explanatory

if you have a really big file to input.. splitting allows this to be done without the server timing out
documentation is good (depending on your version).. clicking the data help link under data manager

Thank you very much for your help.

Just a couple more questions - when I download their file and import it into excel to break it down they have everything in one column do I have to go through and break up the information? There are about 45000 parts total - If I have to do this is there an easier way? Also obviously with that many parts I do realize I will need to split the file - so can I split it more than once? And I have Version 6.2 Pro

Also once I get this file imported on the store - it should just be available to the public correct? I understand I may need to change some things but for the most part it should be good to go right or are there any other steps!

Again THANK YOU!

If your data file is all in one column.. it is virtually worthless.. you would be spending too much time breaking it up and inserting it into a correctly formatted file

I have never seen a feed from a third party that has everything in one column.. ask for a csv file.. that breaks up the product info into different cells.. ie name, model, price etc etc

You only need to split the file once.. then insert each split file file via the drop down which will now show your split files

I have a quick question - when transferring the third party data to match our headers I realize some columns may not have information such as the little pictures and so forth. Do you know which ones are "mandatory" such as the product id etc?

anything you leave blank will be populated by the default values
id will generate its own
the last column is the only required field.. although the v_products_name would be important.. and well as the category name

Hi I NEED YOUR HELP AGAIN!!!

So I finally got my file back from our distributor and is ready to be uploaded now I went back through this post and refreshed my memory on everything...So I went to the EPA Import > upload and split a EP file (browsed and clicked uplaod) and waited and waited and nothing has happened...How long does it normally take the file is 13,828 KB. Once this does get uploaded do I then just drop the box from the Import Data From File In Temp and click insert or do i Split a EP File On Server First? PLEASE HELP!
