Starting about 28 hours ago, my control panel came up with a message about being unavailable, saying "you cannot administer the server yet because the system is on the preventive maintenance. Sorry for the inconvenience." Everything else - site, admin - worked fine, though. Now, however, the admin login screen and the store itself (http://booksforallreasons.us) are giving me load errors, saying to try again later or maybe the sites are too busy, etc.

Mine is a CRE hosted site using 6.3.3. Anyone else having the same problem? Any ideas besides sending a support ticket to CRE about the site being down (which I've already done...)? (And before you ask, yes, my account is current... )

I went with CRE'S hosting so I wouldn't have this kind of down-time problem (which I've had elsewhere)... ARRRRGH.

Sorry for the interruption of service. There is an issue with one of the servers in our network. BR020sh.

It is the same server as our marketing site crehosting.com.

The data center is working on it now. Should be up very soon.

Sal may I please have another update and an estimated time to resolution - we have been offline and out of business now for nearly 24 hours which is not acceptable.

Anybody can suggest an alternative host, preferably in UK. 24 hours is not acceptable down time, I have been paying for clicks that are directed to a dead site for 24 hours, and the page was dead on a Sunday which is our most busy day. I always wanted to move with the hosting to UK but I was never sure, well now I'm very sure. I think the only way of been online at this time is to move, as they have no ETA and I keep getting the same predefined texts to the live chat.

I'm in New Zealand but haven't found a host here that I'm comfortable has a solid knowledge of cre. In spite of the negative feedback I've read on various forums, I've always had really good customer service in the past. They get a few more hours from me.. but if its not live in the morning (it is 7pm here on Monday) then I will have to look elsewhere too. Hope not though.

Is already the next day for us in UK. The page was offline yesterday Sunday, and now is offline Monday, so we lost two days, not to mention God knows how much money in clicks.

I received some orders 9pm Sunday my time which would have been Sunday morning your time (we lead the world you know... ). I guess that was just before things crashed.

I have just been told there are some hardware problems and they are working on it.... I'm off to bed shortly so will cross my fingers we are back on line in 8 hours time.

An update will be most welcome, at least once a day at this stage, looks like the tolerable downtime is now in matter of days or weeks here. And the worst thing is nobody from chainreaction is saying anything. What hardware problem? 24 hours is plenty time to build another server from the scratch by soldering the parts on the boards. At least give me my files and let me go, I already signed up with JustHost and I hope to be back online this week. I’m sorry but after 5 years this is intolerable, more than the downtime is the way they handle this, they just copy and paste the same message over and over. It would be better just to say what happened so we have a realistic ETA.

I have an update. You're all getting a free month of hosting.

The OS and the drives on the server are not mounting for some reason. We gave the datacenter the night to fix the issue. We have now asked for a replacement server and will do a barebones restore from backup. We have 30 days of backups to draw from.

To get your free month (or two) just email billing@crehosting.com and request it.

As for accessing our sites, we did restore crehosting.com to another server so we could service our customers through this outage. We are now working to restore all the customers sites on the effect box as well.

I’m not too keen about the free month, is very generous of you but all I’m interested is to know if the problem will be fixed today or will take several days, my site hasn’t been working since Sunday afternoon.

We have all our server admin resources on this issue, as well as the senior LINUX techs at the datacenter. This server will be up today.

Aha - it's finally back up. Thanks. (Now to do a BIG backup since I hadn't done one before it went splat.... Murphy's law...)

So far, so good. Looks like it's all there. I can even get back into Control Panel again. Phew...
