I'm using CRE Loaded 6.4. A few months ago I set up a “Discount Coupon” feature from the admin. One of our coupon codes gives 10% off anything in the cart. In our site it works fine and it correctly subtracts 10% off of the total price. To pay for items, we have customers get forwarded to the PayPal payment page. However, the coupon discount does not get carried over into the PayPal payment page so the PayPal page shows the total price without the discount. This most definitely has caused a loss of sales for us with customers who tried to redeem coupons. I only realized this recently which is unfortunate because we actually pay to advertise coupon codes.

I know this is most likely adding some additional code to a file. Does anyone know what change to make and to which file? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Which Version of CRELoaded 6.4 are you using and which Paypal Module have you installed?

I'm using CRE Loaded 6.4.0. As for which PayPal module, I see two available ("PayPal Module" and "Certified PayPal WPP/Express Payment). I'm using the one that just says "PayPal Module". This is the one where after the customer clicks "Confirm Order" it takes the customer away from the CRE Loaded site and and directly to the PayPal website to make their payment. When they are taken to the PayPal site, their total price is already added up for them. After I added a coupon code to CRE Loaded, the PayPal site is still correctly adding up the cart total but it is not subtracting the coupon amount.

Bit old, but I assume you've checked that both the payment module and your paypal settings are 'Aggregate' and not 'Itemized' when it comes to calculating the order total? Discount coupons work on the order total, not each product line.

Yes, I realized that the solution would be simple if the PayPal invoice is set to "Aggregate" instead of "Itemized". However, I want my customers to be able to see all items that they purchased and the prices associated with each so I chose the "Itemized" setting. This definitely causes a problem with discount coupons because PayPal does not seem to have a way to subtract discounts from the total. Instead I thought of putting the shipping price to a negative amount if a coupon code was entered or adding a new product entirely and have that as a coupon (the product price would be set to a negative price). However, the PayPal checkout does not accept negative numbers for anything in its checkout.

Any other thought?

Yep - go with the simple solution, It's not Paypal that can't handle individual pricing discounts - it's Cre! It sends the total discount through for the order, not for each item. It's the way it has been written. I'm sure the PP module can accommodate individual discounts, but it's probably been written for osc/cre anyway in which case they've removed that functionality.

If you want to change something like this you'll need to hire a coder.
